Where I Sew – Michelle Engel Bencsko of Cloud9 Fabrics

I’m Michelle Engel Bencsko and the Creative Director at Cloud9 Fabrics. The move into our new headquarters earlier this year allowed me and my partner, Gina Pantastico, to migrate all of our sewing paraphernalia into a single space away from our homes. It’s a little bit of a luxury… until we get the urge to sew at 9pm! Our wall of fabric, which houses most of the prints we’ve run over the last 3 years, is a constant source of inspiration and we are completely bummed that sewing isn’t our full time job.

Cloud9 is one of the reasons I started to really enjoy “modern” fabrics

Now THAT is a sewing room. I love how so much stuff is fit neatly into it, and it still doesn’t look cramped! (takes notes)

What a beautiful studio, but there is no way I could have my studio away from home! I can see the benefits of *going to work* but good luck with that!

I think it’s great they put all of their previous collections right in view for designing their future collections.
