A former graphic designer and graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Denyse Schmidt has been sewing since she was a young girl, taught by her mother. As a professional seamstress, Denyse worked on everything from tutus and bishop’s mitres to fine clothing. She brings these eclectic influences together in patchwork quilts characterized by simple graphics, rich color, and quality workmanship. Firmly rooted in the techniques of quilt-making in this country, Denyse reinterprets tradition to make modern functional quilts that are fresh and offbeat.

Wow look at all that space. And the industrial feel of everything? amazing
Pillows and new bags. It would be great to have an open loft to work in.
Make a quilt!! Great space!
What a great space with those big windows!
Such a cute place! All the light, and space, and a design wall. Love it!
Thank you for the opportunity!
Make a quilt and….?? The possibilities are endless. Love your sewing space!
I would definitely use this beautiful fabric to make a quilt!
I would love to work in a space like this with large design walls, huge windows and plenty of space to baste quilts, design and generally have a creative good time! I think the large space would let me start making bigger quilts than baby size and table runners!
Love the simplicity: wall, table, machine. Serene!
Hmmm, a tiny bit too industrial for me!
Oh, those tall ceilings!
Your space looks so calming and clutter free!
I love the space…but want to warm it up with something.
Love your concept wall, there’s so much space.
I love the pops of color on your design/inspiration wall. The industrial space reminds me of my college years.
I’ve been sewing since I was a kid, too. Not as successful as you are, however! Congratulations…it’s wonderful to see your work!
Eeek! I love the exposed brick and wood floors in her space, plus it seems so open.
Love that industrial feel! It must be so great to create in such an open space with large windows!
Love those tall ceilings!! Can’t wait to take her class in October!!
Exactly as I would have imagined Denyse’s space–minimal and functional.
I want to see the rest of the room too! Looks fantastic
This room reminds me of an older school classroom…lots of open space.
