Geared for Guys by Emily Herrick of Crazy Old Ladies – Book Tour + Giveaway

Emily Herrick of Crazy Old Ladies is a talented pattern and fabric designer. Her latest collection for Michael Miller Fabrics is called Shore Thing.

Today is Day 23 of Emily’s 30 Blogs in 30 Days Geared for Guys Book Blog Tour. That’s a mouthful!

I also get to share some photos I took of Emily’s Quilt Market Booth. Totally not planned but the timing of the book tour worked perfectly, LOVE when that happens!

The book contains 8 quilt patterns for the men in your life including a fabulous design by John Adams of Quilt Dad. John’s quilt is Urban Decay and features the gray hexagons hanging on the lower rod. It’s also featured on the cover of the book.

Also included are tips on color theory, finding fabrics, and design elements all with your favorite guy in mind. I especially enjoyed that color palettes are included for each quilt in the book along with a description on why they were selected.

My favorite quilt in the book is High Voltage. I’d like to make it up with a mix of wool and quilting cottons including printed textures like Robert Kaufman Quilter’s Linen.

For a chance to win a copy of the book leave a comment telling me what man in your life you’d like to make a quilt for. I’ll draw a winner on Monday.

Next up on the Blog Tour:  Jeni from In Color Order (an awesome blog and designer of the Lined Drawstring Bag, one of our best selling downloadable patterns, have fun!)

Emily’s book is available for sale in the Crazy Old Ladies Etsy Shop in a choice of printed book or PDF.

Oh, for my Dad, for sure. He appreciates everything I make him so much — usually, it’s knits, but a quilt would, I think, make his day!

I’d like to make a quilt for my husband. I have made one for everyone else in my family but him. This book has patterns in it that totally suit him. He’s not into randomness at all, but likes planned quilts. He’s works in engineering.

I’d definitely be making one for my husband. And then I’d start making some for my son and nephews.

I’d like to make a quilt for my nephew. I have so many ideas for my niece, but I can’t make something for her and not her brother.

I have a husband, 4 sons & 3 grandsons, so I have plenty of guys to make quilts for. My middle son told me recently that all he wants for Christmas from me is a quilt, so I definitely have to have this book for him to pick a quilt out of.

I’d make a quilt for my husband. Some of these designs are really great and I think more than one of them would work for him. Thanks for the giveaway.

For my husband who is 6ft 3in tall! All blankets are just not quite long enough. I’m seeking out a design that would appeal to him. And indeed, he has his preferences. :) Perhaps this book can spark a few ideas. He loves the industrial look. The grey circle quilt with the orange dot looks stunning!

I would definitely make a quilt for my husband…who spent many years living in a house with four females – me and my three daughters! He could use it! (I could follow that with quilts for my son in laws and my two grandsons!!)

I’ve got 3 “boys” at my house and I need some ideas for the littler of the 2 for when they get bigger. I can handle little boy quilts, but not so sure about bigger boy quilts (and hubby).

    Really excited about this book.

My baby will soon outgrow his baby quilt, so I would love to make a bigger “boy” quilt.

I would definitely make one for my dad. Sometimes dads and grandads get forgotten about and I think he’d really appreciate it, especially if it had some kind of subtle John Wayne reference. Thanks for the giveaway.

Easy: for my husband. I’ve yet to make him a quilt, mostly because he keeps requesting crazy stuff like leather tool bags and special desk organizers. Um, no. It kind of zaps my creative mojo, and now he’s the only one in the house without his own special quilt. (Awww….)

I’d make a quilt for my hubs — he is quite fond of lap quilts and sometimes wears them as a sarong…hmmm…I’m glad he likes them so much and gets use out of them, but I never envisioned them as garments!

I made a quilt for my no 19 yr. son about 5 years ago, and now he’s due for a shall we say, more mature or more guy focused, type of design. He has very abstract taste and it looks like this book would be hellpful.

For some time, I’ve wanted to make a quilt for my brother and an uncle. Yet, I’ve been stuck on color, design, etc. to make a true guy quilt. Hope to win a copy of this book as saw some designs that they may like (well, I like helix and urban decay). Thanks for the chance.
