Emily Herrick of Crazy Old Ladies is a talented pattern and fabric designer. Her latest collection for Michael Miller Fabrics is called Shore Thing.
Today is Day 23 of Emily’s 30 Blogs in 30 Days Geared for Guys Book Blog Tour. That’s a mouthful!
I also get to share some photos I took of Emily’s Quilt Market Booth. Totally not planned but the timing of the book tour worked perfectly, LOVE when that happens!

The book contains 8 quilt patterns for the men in your life including a fabulous design by John Adams of Quilt Dad. John’s quilt is Urban Decay and features the gray hexagons hanging on the lower rod. It’s also featured on the cover of the book.

Also included are tips on color theory, finding fabrics, and design elements all with your favorite guy in mind. I especially enjoyed that color palettes are included for each quilt in the book along with a description on why they were selected.

My favorite quilt in the book is High Voltage. I’d like to make it up with a mix of wool and quilting cottons including printed textures like Robert Kaufman Quilter’s Linen.

For a chance to win a copy of the book leave a comment telling me what man in your life you’d like to make a quilt for. I’ll draw a winner on Monday.
Next up on the Blog Tour: Jeni from In Color Order (an awesome blog and designer of the Lined Drawstring Bag, one of our best selling downloadable patterns, have fun!)
Emily’s book is available for sale in the Crazy Old Ladies Etsy Shop in a choice of printed book or PDF.

My husband loves all of the quilts I make, but he surely would love an honest-to-goodness guy quilt like the ones in this book!
I’d love to make my sweet Hubby a special quilt, tho I fear it would make falling asleep on the sofa even more likely.

Well, since my husband is the old male in this house without a quilt made by me, it’s probably time! Thanks, Kathy!
I’ll pick my grandson….I made him a baby quilt but maybe he needs an older boy quilt now.
I’ve really been wanting to make a quilt for my brother, who is now on his own with his 2 kiddos… This book looks amazing!

This website online is really a walk-by means of for all of the data you wished about this and didn’t know who to ask. Glimpse here, and also you’ll definitely discover it.
i love this idea for a book~the men do need their own quilts!! the guy i’d make a quilt for is actually my dad~a memorial quilt for him, using his old work shirts as part of the fabrics. thanks for the giveaway and happy weekend! xo
Definitely my hubby – he’s an electrician, so “high voltage” appeals to me, too!! Faith.
P.S. Although I often refer to him as a “live wire”!
My hubs is always looking for a quilt to use. I’d like to make one for my grandfather as well. Thanks!
Sounds like a great book! I’d like to make a quilt for my husband now that he has a nice, manly, brown recliner! Also my older son who’s 9, he’ll need a more mature quilt for his room soon!
I’d like to make a quilt for my husband.
As a mother of 2 boys, a wife to 1, a sister to 2, and a sister-in-law to 5 boys and men I’m surrounded!! A book with masculine solutions to otherwise feminine quilts would be a life saver!!
My gamer son of course- with dark grey, light grey and Xbox green for sure!
wonderful quilts for men!!! Love them.
Love the green quilt! My hubby needs a nice manly blanket for our room. Floral isn’t his style.
I would probably make 6 of the quilts in the book, sons, brothers friends. Some I would make two or three of. Hope to win the book so I can get started, thanks
My husband, closely followed by my two sons! It’s been a long time since I made a purely ‘guy’ quilt!
That would be the Boyf! I’ve made baby quilts for boys, but otherwise I’ve never made a quilt specifically for a boy before.
I’ve made quilts for my husband and son. They get so much use that I know I’ll have to make another set. This book would be GREAT!
I would love to make something for my husband, Alex. He works so hard and still finds the time to support me in learning to quilt. He even helps me iron and does most of my cutting just to make sure I don’t give up.
Cool looking book – would love to make some of these for my sons! thanks.
I’d make something for my little man. I’d probably make the urban decay or the one above it, I think I saw it called helix somewhere.
such fun designs.
I have one husband and three sons, so I could make a quilt for each of them out of this book. The choices are fabulous!
I would love to make a quilt for my fiance and I am eying that Gamer pattern I see in the one picture. My fiance is a total gamer so that will either be part of a mario themed quilt I am making or another quilt all by itself!
I love your market pictures and the focus on trends. As our guild vice-president (program chair), I am searching for new ideas. The colors and fresh styles in fabric and quilts are exciting. Thanks for sharing this experience.
I love, love the modern guys quilts! I would love to have one for my little boy’s room. These are beautiful.
