Fat Quarter Tuesday – Liz Scott Domestic Bliss + Half Moon Modern

The full collection of Domestic Bliss by Liz Scott arrived this week. The colors are amazing. A bold palette of Robin’s Egg, Azalea, Eggplant, Red Plum, Teal, Curry, Pink and a splash of Red and Orange in just the right places.

The Goldilocks Principle in action – keep swapping bolts until each fat quarter stack is just right.

A lovely scale for quiltmaking and aprons!

Half Moon Modern is a fresh, new collection of contemporary basics from Moda. It contains some favorite designs from previous MoMo collections (the butterfly silhouettes, scissors, spots and ovals) along with some striking, big, bold, and graphic zig zags and polka dots. The colors are amazing. Moda has definitely filled their ink jars with pumped up, saturated hues. Hip, hip, hooray!

A bit of red and green to celebrate the holidays!

Free quilt pattern from Moda.

I set my butter on the counter this morning. Tonight’s plan includes Macadamia Nut Chocolate Chip Refrigerator Cookies, my mom’s Thumbprint Cookies, and Mexican Wedding Cakes. What cookies are you making?

Several years ago someone recognized me from my blog in the parking lot at the post office. She was so nice and thanked me for sharing the Macadamia Nut Chocolate Chip cookie recipe. She said they were the best cookies she’s ever made. Shea of Empty Bobbin even tweeted about them the other day which made me smile! They’re great for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

LOL I took butter out, put it on my counter 2 days ago, to make shortbread. Only problem? I haven’t been able to tear myself away from my sewing machine long enough to do anything other than make meals!
    Maybe tomorrow ;)

My heart is beating faster with the giant polka dots and oh how I love green! I made Mexican Wedding Rings for my son who just arrived home for the holidays. It’s my grandmother’s very old recipe.

So very different, but I love both lines!

You know, I’m not doing cookies this year. Almost no one in my husband’s family eats them! I’m going to make a little candy and some spiced nuts and that’s it.

Looks like 2012 will be the year of saturated colors, and that makes me very happy! Serious stash shopping coming up.

    Happy Holidays!

PS…I just love Mexican Wedding Cakes. If I were making cookies, that would be the one.

Always love to see the new fabric lines and color combinations! I live in a rural area and don’t get to quilt shops often so it’s fun to keep up on line!

Made some easy cookies with my little boys (small “cookie balls” they have to poke with their little fingers… I fill the small holes with marmelade or jelly before baking.) A huge mess and I’m wondering every time why they don’t get sick from “testing” way too much :) ) Thanks for another chance to win!

Loving the look of that Half Moon collection. As for cookies, it’s not really a tradition here, but I’ll be right on the mince pies on Friday afternoon after I get to my mum and dad’s :)

Only one Fat Quarter Tuesday left after this one ~
I happened to see Domestic Bliss at my local fabric store (Cool Cottons in Portland, OR) and just love it! I’m on a bit of a ‘no buying fabric till Christmas is over’, so I couldn’t let myself be swayed.

I have to make an appetizer for Saturday night. It’s my job this year to look after the meat, so I was thinking of making little puffs with hamburger and cheese inside. Like mini cheeseburgers, only posh.

Our peanut blossom cookies this year will be attempted with cashew butter now that my FiL is allergic. We love to decorate cookies as a huge family–sugar cookies, molassas, raisin filled cookies, apricot bars and blossoms. I like russian tea cakes–but I have to make those on my own as my family is luke warm about them as well as my grandmas’ seven layer bars with green and red cherrys topped with coconut.
