Week 46 – Project 100
Better-Than-a-Box Pet Bed – designed by Adrienne Lodico page 274
Kathy selected Amy Butler Design Lark Treasure Box Charcoal – Home Decor.
Materials Needed:
Fiberfill
Stuffing Stick or similar tool
Kathy’s Tips and Thoughts
- Trapezoid shapes sewn together create a unique shape for the pillow including the rim around the top – this was a fun technique to learn.
- Kathy used Home Dec fabric that was 55″ wide, the way the strips are cut you’ll need to make sure you have a useable width of fabric of 42″.
- Kathy cut strips to the correct width first and then drew the trapezoid shapes.
Week 46 – Project 101
Milo’s Feline-Friendly Tepee – designed by Patricia Hoskins page 276
Kathy chose Amy Butler Design Lark Chinese Lanterns Citrus – Home Decor.
Materials Needed:
1 package of coordinating 1/2″ double-fold bias tape
large, plastic, snap-in curtain grommets (optional)
four 1/2″ diameter dowels for sides at least 27″ long
four 1/2″ diameter dowels for base 17 1/2″ long
Kathy’s Tips and Thoughts
- This was a very well designed project that cleverly conceals all raw seam edges using flat felled seam and french seam techniques. The size of the tepee would work well for American Girl Dolls and Beanie Babies too!
- Kathy substituted willow branches for the dowels on the upper portion of the tepee.
- In Step 2 the instructions for the flat felled seam say to sew ‘wrong sides facing’ this should be right sides facing. Follow the instructions on Page 16 for the correct sequence.

Cute! My cats seem to think my gumdrop pillow is their new pet bed, not sure they’d like the change if they had to move to something smaller! A girl can dream, though! Love the color!
Congrats! I was a little confused at how you were able to complete 101 projects in only 46 weeks but then I figured out that you had grouped a few projects together—like the bathroom articles. Very good. This has been a fun journey to go on with you all!
Just last week a baby cat arrived in our home, a too cute black little sweetie. Now I’m tempted to steel some time (from whom…) to make such a nice cat bed.

Congratulations on your last week! It was quite the undertaking to do the whole thing and it was fun to follow along–even if I couldn’t sew along, it was nice to see the projects and see the updates/comments on the patterns.

I love both of these projects! My dog would love the tepee.She’s always looking for dark and enclosed spaces to hide.

Thank you for doing the Sew Along. It was great to see the fabrics and have your input in the patterns. I have had the book for awhile but because of you I have had more confidence in completing a few of the projects.
I just have to say the Amy’s fabric is to die for! Great projects.
Oh my gosh!!! This is the end!!! How have I missed that? I guess I am always so busy looking at your projects that I haven’t been paying attention to the numbers! I have no pets, but I love the fabric choices. As much as I love the projects, seeing all the fabric in different applications is such a treat.

My teen daughter and I made this for her little sister for Christmas last year for all her stuffed doggies! She loves it and uses it for everything!
I am so amazed at these one yard wonders! That tent is so adorable….
The cat teepee is so cute! Not sure if my cat wuld use it but I’m pretty sure my granddaughter would for all her dollies. Thanks for sharing all these wonderful projects with us.
I’ve never used pre-cuts! In fact, the only quilts I ever made (25 years ago?) were made with diligently-traced and then hand-cut with scissors pieces of leftover dress and skirt fabric! Wow – how the world has changed!
These could be great gifts for friends.
I wish I had an indoor cat to make these for. Hmmm – I think I have a candidate for the pillow. It is so cute.
The end of the series? This can’t be! I looked forward to each project and actually made about 4 of them.
