Welcome to Week 43 of the One Yard Wonders Sew Along!

Week 43 – Project 92
Steggie, The Pull-Along Dino – designed by Caitlin Bell page 258

Janis selected Kaffe Fassett Fall 2011 Babaganoush Yellow.
Please note that the text on the tissue paper pattern piece for the BODY is upside down.
Materials Needed:
pattern on sheet 2
9″ x 12″ piece of felt
Two 1/4″ or 1/2″ buttons (for eyes)
Four 1″ squares of Velcro
Fiberfil
Piece of wood 5″ x 7″ x 1″ (you can use wooden plaques found at craft stores)
4 wooden wheels
4 wooden axle pegs
acrylic paint
acrylic clear coat (optional)
1 screw eye
1 wooden bead
1/4 yard of 5/8″ ribbon
drill
craft glue

Janis’ Tips and Thoughts
- Pattern was well written.
- Janis suggests having all the materials together before starting Steggie. (It will save you on trips to the store.)
- The feet were small for Janis’ Steggie so she recut them adding just over 1/4 inch to the original.
- Kona Solids were used in place of felt for the spine and feet.
- Instead of the bead for her pull Janis used an old wooden spool.

Week 43 – Project 93
Elodie the Elephant – designed by Sarah Faix page 261

Melissa chose Kaffe Fassett Fall 2011 Parasols Yellow.
Materials Needed:
pattern on sheet 2
Scrap of contrasting fabric
Two 1/2″ buttons for eyes (for a Child less than 3 embroider the eyes)
Embroidery floss for facial features
Fiberfill
Doll needle

Melissa’s Tips and Thoughts
- The directions are simple and straight forward.
- Melissa used Safety Eyes. They need to be attached before you sew and stuff the head.
- Next time Melissa plans to make the trunk wider so that turning and stuffing will be easier.
- In step 3, Assemble the Body, it is important to have the head front and back seams centered on the body pieces. Make a mark to identify the center of the body pieces this will make it easy to line up. Pin head and body pieces and carefully stitch together.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend from your Pink Chalk Fabrics Friends!

Cute! I never realized how many little stuffed animals there are in this book – what a collection you could create!
Awww, look at all the adorable stuffies!!!!
This makes me want to actually sew the Elodies I have cut out. Maybe next week!!
That fabric is striking! Great job on the projects this week.
Adorable!!! I love the picture of all of them together =D I think the bear is still my favorite!!! Maybe I could make one for myself and put a little lavender inside. It could be my stress/headache relieving bear =D
Oh dear… that last picture is full of so much cuteness. What a nice finish to the week!
These softies are BRILLIANT! And so timely with the holidays fast approaching.
I just knew the fabric choices would be perfect…and they are!! Especially the parasol elly belly lol
That elephant has so much personality! Love it.
Adorable!!!
Kathy, have a wonderful time in Houston!!
Happy weekend to all the Pink Chalk people!
Phychedelic!
I really love all the cute animals made from the One-Yard-Wonders book. I made several projects from the book but haven’t made any animals yet, can’t wait to try them using my favorite Amy Butler fabrics. Thanks for the creative assist.
Love your blog, newsletter and store.

Absolutely adorable!! And very niceky done. I love the group picture of your little menagerie.
That elephant is way cute.
How cute! I adore that elephant!
I had the exactl same problems with the elephant, but they do turn out cute. I will also be making modifications if I make another! I love all of them together! Makes me want to finish making them for my kids for Christmas this year!
I love your group picture of all the Pink Chalk stuffies so far!
All those animals together are just too cute
For some reason I had it in my head that the dinosaur was going to be really big. I’m surprised it’s small. Having it next to the bolts of fabric gave it better context than the picture in the book, I guess.
I think I am in love with the pull along dino. My son says he is skateboarding!
These are sew adorable!
They are both so cute! Love the fabrics that were chosen.
I love the group shot. They are all so adorable.
These are so cute!
LOVE all the softies together, what a cute collection! That dinosaur is awesome!
The cuteness! I just love the fabrics y’all chose as well– especially the Stegosaurus. Way cool.
Stegie is so cute! I might have to make a couple of Stegies for my own kiddo and to keep some on hand for last minute birthday gifts.
I love how the patterns of the fabric worked into the softies, so cute and fun.

These are the cutest! Especially the elephant.
Love the lively Fasset fabric for this ellie!
Having had several pet tortoises, I love the turtle with his appliqued shell. Very cute. Also, love the elephant and hippo.
Steggie turned out TOO cute! Perfect fabric.
too cute!
Kaffe was a perfect fabric for the elephant. Steggie is adorable. Each week I think, this project is the best one so far … and then there is another one that I love.
These are some of my favorites from your series. Lovely and cute
What darling toys! Love the fabric too!
I am convinced–this book is going directly onto my wish list. There are so many cute projects in this book, and so many ways to use gorgeous fabric. I’m a quilter, not a sewist, but you make them seem like something I could tackle, with the help of your tutorials. Thanks so much for all you do!
You guys must be getting quite a collection of cute little softies hanging around the shop
Oh my gosh ~ all those little animals are so darn cute!
I love all the softies, you guys have totally inspired me to make some super cute baby gifts (with felt eyes instead of safety eyes) for the baby showers this year!
These both turned out so cute! All the softies together just look so adorable – love ‘em

I love these cute little animals from One Yard Wonders, I can’t wait to make the bear for my new granddaughter. They are so cheerful in their bright, beautiful fabrics, they really make me smile. Our new baby will get one for Christmas to light up her morning when she opens it. Thanks for sharing with us. Hmm, maybe I will make the turtle too.
