Aneela Hoey graduated from Winchester School of Art with a BA (Hons) degree in printed textile design. She has worked in design studios in both London and New York as well as freelance. After getting married she took a break to raise her two daughters, now aged 7 and 10. She found her way back to textile design through her love of quilt making which led her to begin designing the kind of fabrics she wanted to use but couldn’t find. Aneela is also a keen embroiderer and produces her own embroidery patterns.
Sherbert Pips is her first fabric collection for Moda. Her second, Little Apples, is due out in the fall.

That’s a neat coffee table… but where do her knees go when she sews? >*< Awesome pillows and ironing board cover!
That was my first thot. Where do her KNEES fit in that arrangement?????
Designing no doubt does not require a ton of stitching…..and she designs most beautifully.
My back hurts just looking at that! I really hope there is a more ergonomic set up in her future.. OUCH!
I”m amazed that she can sew in that little tiny space and turn out all the beautiful work she does! I’m not complaining about my little space anymore.
Looks a little cramped and bad for the back, but hey, we gotta do what we gotta do!!!
Aneela, you are the greatest. Love your fabric and embroidery designs and your cute living room, a cosy place to sew.
This looks like a great setup for someone (like me) who is the only sewer amongst her friends. You can sew while your friends sit around you and drink lattes.
I feel so special! That is the same IKEA coffee table I sew at in my living room! It may not be the most fancy or ergonomic spot, but you gotta work with what ya got and does mean I get to interact with the family more as I work.
I also like her ironing board cover much more than mine and I don’t see the sea of Legos that my area is surrounded by
This looks like such a comfy space!
Way to keep it real, Aneela. I love your sewing nest!
What an adorable ironing board cover!
wow, it looks so cozy with all those couches! i wonder if i could swing sewing from a couch- much comfier than my wooden folding chair!
I have enjoyed the Where I sew series! I never would have dreamed Aneela sews at her coffee table, she sews beautifully!
such a cool cosy sewing space…
Wow! This one really surprised me! I guess I just assumed all the well known names have fancy spaces – but really they are just like the rest of us!
my tv, etc. sits on the same coffee table with baskets also from ikea under to hold various and sundry. could never sew there–made by back ache just looking at it, but it does look like such a comfy room with all the overstuffed chairs! glad it works for her
Cute ironing board fabric! I’d love to sit on the couch and chat while she sews.

I heard Pat Sloan interview her when Sherbit Pips came out and she talked about her living room/sewing room and how she had to take it down everyday. It sure looks comfy with the sofas and all. I just love the fabric that covers that ironing board-any clue what it is?
The little outfits print is part of Aneela’s next collection called Little Apples scheduled for a September delivery from Moda. I LOVE her idea to use it as an ironing board cover!
Another wonderful sewing area, love the table and nice, comfy spot to relax and sew.

Love the comfort of this room. The ironing board cover is too cute! Love the furniture covers, can I come visit
To me, this room seems like a perfect fit–so cozy. Thanks to Aneela for inviting us in.
OMG!! I’m surprised everyone missed the best thing…that Janome Horizon!! *jealous*!! I tell you what, I would sew anywhere if given the chance to have one of those babies! It is also TOTALLY refreshing to see that not all of the pros have enviable dedicated extra rooms in the house, or converted lofts. Thanks for sharing Aneela, and thanks for the series Kathy!
shoot, that’s NOT a Janome, is it?? oops…Now that I have my glasses on, it’s a Pfaff. So now my question is, how does it compare? Not like I could afford either, but you know, after I win the lottery, I need to be well informed
I still haven’t had a chance to get some Pips. She does amazing work and that area looks so comfy.
Alli and Sequana – My knees just fit wherever there’s space, like Doris said above ‘we gotta do what we gotta do’!
Denise – there were no toys in this pic as both my girls were in school at the time. It completely is not like this when they are home
I am salivating over her machine! She is so talented too…
What a cozy room! It looks like an amazing place to sew!
A lot is packed into that small space — but looks comfy with the colorful pillows and ironing board.
I don’t know how on earth Aneela manages to do everything in her family room but it certainly looks cozy!
I love Sherbet Pips – can’t wait for the next line.
I keep listening to the news broadcast talk about getting boundless online grant applications so I have been looking around for the top site to get one. Could you tell me please, where could i find some?
