Where I Sew – Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic

Coming from Germany with a background in Textile and Interior Design, Brigitte learned about quilts only a few years ago and at once fell hopelessly in love with them. All the skills she gathered over the years of using color, designing patterns and thinking in terms of a contemporary interior style leave their marks on her fresh approach to making patterns and designing fabrics.  Brigitte is passionate about her work (her friends would say obsessed!) and loves designing quilts with a modern, sophisticated and unique look.

I love the inspiration wires across the wall. Much tidier than a bulletin board.

I love seeing the different ideas for inspiration, whether on a board or a line or a collage. Thanks for this series!

Where did you get the wires for your inspiration board? I’d like to do something similar for another application.

Those are originally meant for hanging curtains and I got mine at IKEA.

Surely she can’t be a quilter…her sewing space is WAY too tidy ;-)

I love this little space – the wall color is so fab in here, even though it is something I would never think to choose myself!

I like the clip wire instead of traditional cork board for posting items.

It’s so clean! I love that even her wall colors are intentional, and she doesn’t seem to be sewing in a thrown-together space. I think I may need to put a few things on hold and do some cleaning in my space ;)

I am really getting inspired to get over to the orange toy store and pick up some paint and organization “stuff” and get my sewing area ship-shape!

I am making your White Labyrinth quilt from the Fons and Porter Love of Quilting. I am having problems with blocks 3 & 4. Is piece C suppose to be 1.5 by 1.5 or piece D 2 by 2.5? Would like to know what I am doing wrong.
