I can’t wait to the skirt! It totally says SUMMER!
Interested in hearing about the skirt pattern!
I love that flower garden and mulberry wine combo!
both projects and fabric look great! looking forward to the end of the week to see them finished.
I’d love to hear what you think about both patterns, the fabric choices are once again gorgeous!!
I got tripped up on the skirt. I was all set to make it using one yard of quilting cotton until I saw the dimensions of the fabric. So I had to scrap it as the measurements I was using were for the largest size. Not really a One Yard Wonder in my opinion.
But maybe it will be a Two Yard Wonder! Looking forward to your results.
Hi Melinda, I brought home an extra yard of fabric to complete the skirt. I was a bit surprised by the need for 60″ wide fabric too. Most quilting cottons are 44/45″ wide. I will say the skirt is very cute. Look for the pictures on Friday!
Clothing. My nemesis. I look forward to your low-down on these two projects!
I am sorry about the fabric problem with the skirt. There was a misunderstanding with the OYW editors when they asked me to contribute the skirt pattern. You see, clothing fabrics are almost always 60″ wide and I hardly ever use quilting fabrics, so to me a yard of fabric is 1 yard by 60″, and the skirts I’ve made from this pattern always fit on a 60″ yard. When I started my contribution I wasn’t aware the book was geared specifically towards quilting fabrics, and only realized the misunderstanding when the editors sent me the fabric for the sample.
An idea would be to cut the top 2/3rds of the skirt in the main fabric, and the bottom third in another coordinating fabric. That could be really cute.
Thanks for that insight on clothing fabric yard lengths vs. quilting fabrics — totally makes sense. It’s a beautiful and fun project. If I didn’t have chunky thighs I’d make it for myself!
Fabric selections are as usual adorable! Cant wait to see the results!
I would love to make clothing, think I need lessons or I will get stuck and frustrated and quit;)

The top and skirt are going to look so pretty.
