I received two lovely books in the mail from publisher Stewart, Tabori & Chang. Sometimes that happens, I just receive books out of the blue. I love giving them away here.

I also enjoy reviewing them but the whole 9 days left to Christmas thing has me in a bit of a panic so let’s just do the giveway part today!

A description of Kata Golda’s Hand-Stitched Felt from the publisher:
Ranging from children’s finger puppets and a tooth-fairy pillow to photo “brag” books, messenger bags, and curtains and blankets, most of these projects can be completed in an hour or less. They are made from basic shapes of wool felt sewn together and customized with unique details, all using simple, large stitches. Step-by-step instructions and templates, along with adorable photos and hand-drawn illustrations, make each project simple to replicate. Playful tutorials, such as how to personalize projects with a variety of facial expressions, add to the charm of this delightful book.
Kata Golda is the creator of a line of hand-stitched felt items that she makes and sells with the help of nine other women out of her home in Port Townsend, Washington. Her creations are available in high-end stores and boutiques, including ABC Carpet, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, and Kate’s Paperie. Visit her website at www.katagolda.com

My favorite idea in the book, a pencil roll for finger puppets!

In addition to the new books we’ve also been receiving a continuous flow of beautiful fabrics plus discovering some interesting things as we tidy up the shop for the new year. This giveaway will include 17 different prizes:
- Kata Golda’s Hand-Stitched Felt – 25 Whimsical Sewing Projects
- 4 sets of 4 quarters each from Rosalie Quinlan’s new collection Grandmother’s Flower Garden for Japanese manufacturer Lecien. Melly & Me also released 6 new patterns this month (Dahlia, Giddy-Up, Lantern Strings, Leon, Little Miss Mouse, My Folio & Folio Jr.). Amazing women!
- 12 Odyssea by MoMo charm packs. Little mix up on our end, these never made it into the shop inventory and we’re making way for new things so enjoy these cuties!
I’m going to make this a quick event. I’ll draw a winner Friday morning. Leave a comment telling me what sewing item you want Santa to bring. Winners announced, congratulations!

Be the first to know: I’m going to wrap up (ha, ha) this holiday giveaway thing with a REALLY BIG ONE on Monday, December 21. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. The comments will only be open for one day so be ready!

Ah! I’d like to have more time to sew! Or at least some more fabric!!
I would like Santa to bring me time…with a 3 month old and a 2 yr old, it is in very short supply. But, since that is probably impossible, a close second would be some organizational helps…like a tote system or something for organizing my stash and tools.
i’d be very happy if santa brought me a gift certificate to my favorite local quilt store!
I would be very happy to have Santa cut my table for the insert I purchased so I can have my sewing table at the right height! It’s all about good ergonomics these days!!!
Fun stuff! I’ve asked Santa for some crafting books and magazine subscriptions, but what I really need is improved sewing skillz!
The gift of time to sew all the things I want to make; a dress form – oh, how I want one of those; and fabric, always fabric!! I’ve been wanting to make a quilt from charm packs for some time now.
i would be most content if santa surprised all those persons this year who are struggling through a painful financial crisis. in the meantime i will try to remain ever grateful for all with which i have been blessed.
FABRIC! I always love fabric, and getting some as a gift would be so much fun. I also have dreams of someone giving me a sewing-item-stuffed stocking (thats hand-made, of course!). Nothing big, just lots of little fun things like pins, needles in a needle book, threads, buttons, notions. ahh, i’d love!
I want Santa (or Hanukkah Harry, actually) to bring me Alabama Stitch Book, and/or a new iron for my sewing room!
I’ve asked Santa for an adjustable-height table to accommodate sewing, typing and printing in my all-purpose room/guest room. I’ve also hinted heavily regarding the ‘Alabama Stitch Book’ and gift certificates to my favorite local fabric stores (including Pink Chalk!).
Dear Santa, I would like a new sewing table and whatever fun fabric you might have lying around!!
merry Christmas!
I would love this felt project book! But first on my list is a ruffle or gathering foot for my sewing machine.
Oh, the felt book! I’m making felt food for my son for Christmas.
I would love a serger or a walking foot for my regular machine.
The felt book is sooo adorable!
As for Christmas, I was supposed to get a coverstitch machine, but it was delivered early and someone swiped it off my porch. (boo!) The only other thing I want for Christmas is for my kids to be healthy.
Santa would be a doll if he could give me a “Smocking” class I’m dying to take at the local quilting shop.
Happy Holidays! ~ Beth
I would be thrilled to find an acrylic extension table under the tree this year! Oh, and gift certificates for toddler wrangling services so I could put that dream gift to good use.
Happy Holidays!
I would love some patterns for felt play food to make for my granddaughter. And more storage for my sewing stuff. But my dream is that women all over the world will one day be able to feed all their children, tuck them at night in safe warm beds, and see them grow up healthy in a world at peace.
Wishing all happy, hope-filled holidays.
Hello – Like minimeg, I would love to receive the Alabama Stitch Book. I havent told Santa though so probably not much chance!
I would love a steady stream of fabric to arrive at my doorstep. there is just so much yumminess out there I can hardly stand it! And I’m also very intrigued by felt right now, but am baffled at how to begin. Looks like Golda’s book might be just the thing to steer me in the right direction!
Merry Christmas! And thanks for a great giveaway!
My 2 grandaughters really love the finger puppet ‘roll up bed’,but I would be happy to receive anything light enough to be posted to the UK.thanks for an inspiring site, only found you in october .Sue.
Oh, My! My 7 and 9-yr old granddaughters would love to work on the projects in the book. I’ve promised to teach them to sew this year. And this grandma would surely find a way to make a few more flowers for my Grandmother’s Flower Garden currently under cultivation. Win or no, you’ve planted some seeds with today’s blog. Very fun read. Thanks again!
I’ve asked Santa to bring me a new pair of Fiskars. And anything else that catches his fancy.
oh man I really want a new bernina but I’m losing my job next year.
santa can I get a christmas miracle?
Oh how I wish Santa would fill his magical sack with great scraps of fabric…
I think I just might have to gift myself with some of that new Grandmother’s Flower Garden. Yummy stuff.
All I want for Christmas is a new rotary blade. Thank you for your generosity!
Sewing items that I would love to receive? Oh, where shall I begin?
I would love a sewing armoire, so that I can keep my sewing machine out of range of inquisitive little fingers. Gift cards to fabric stores. Gingher scissors. A Rowenta iron. A table large enough to lay out my projects. A design wall. Time to sew.
Do I actually expect any of these items? LOL.. No, but that time thing would be the best.
I love to browse all kinds of crafting/quilting books! Kata’s book would be perfect!
Fabric and sewing books are always at the top of my list for Santa!
I wish for Peace and the book.
